Printing is more an art than a science.
But technology does help. And Century Direct has the technology.
Take our prepress department, where we have all major software programs with the latest updates. Most of our work is prepping files received from clients. Working on both Macintosh and PC platforms using all popular software applications, we preflight, trap, electronically impose, and RIP job files.
For many jobs we show proof via PDF file using the Century Proof Approval System (CPAS), a web-based client-operated system that tracks your proof approval or changes. Computerized schedules are automatically updated and all Century staff involved with your project are notified.
For hardcopy proof, the RIP-ed file is digitally imaged on an Epson Stylus Pro 9800 Digital Printer to produce color proofs for approval. After approval via the CPAS, printing plates are digitally imaged from that same file. This state-of-the-art computer-to-plate system guarantees precise registration and accurate imaging on press.
For those clients who do not create their own graphic and layout files, we provide typesetting,
design, high resolution scanning and retouching services. We also offer large format inkjet
printing -- posters as large as 4' x 10', with mounting and laminating service available.
We have state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment that includes Canon ImagePress C7000VP Digital Color Press Systems, Xerox DocuTech Publishing Systems, and Kodak DigiSource 9110 Network Imaging Systems for high-speed black-and-white and short-run color jobs. But our laser systems do much more: Variable Data Printing.
Variable Data Printing is much more than the usual personalized mailer. VDP delivers a customized message by creating a unique image for each mail piece. And in color, on our Canon ImagePress Systems. These systems also offer collating, stapling, and booklet making on line.
The offset pressroom houses an array of presses, large and small, to fit your job. We can select the proper press for your job, allowing for economy and quality at the same time. The bindery is equipped for computerized jogging and cutting, folding, saddle stitching, drilling, gluing, wafer sealing, banding and shrink wrapping.
But again, it is not just leading edge technology that yields great printing. It's the people
behind (and sometimes in front) the machines.
Our prepress, digital press, offset press and bindery people are all skilled craftspeople with years of trade
experience. Our veteran print production team initiate print orders, supervise quality
control and provide a seamless interface with our mailing department.
